Artist’s Statement

I love the birds that wander through my neighborhood and are seen on the docks, beaches, ponds, and estuaries of Pinellas County. I am especially fascinated by the white birds, so uniform in the color of their plumage but different in the shape, size, and color of their beaks and feet. They are often found together, the Great Egret, Snowy Egret, and the Wood Stork so alike and so different. In December of 2024 I went off on a local camera safari to photograph many of the birds depicted in the exhibition. I hope you enjoy them. The paintings you see below are the culmination of over 2 months work.
